Care information

*Epipremnum* sp. (Mt. Salak locality, Indonesia) is an unidentified shingling aroid collected from the slopes of Mt. Salak in West Java. Juvenile growth produces small, heart-shaped leaves that press tightly against climbing surfaces. With maturity, the leaves enlarge and can take on elongated shapes, similar to other *Epipremnum* species. This Mt. Salak form is recognized for its darker juvenile foliage compared to Cebu forms, as shown in comparative photos, though the exact species identity has not been confirmed.

You will receive an **unrooted cutting**, grower’s choice. It will be similar in size and form to the one pictured but not the exact plant. Shipped bare-root or in moss depending on conditions.

**Light Requirements:** Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun.
**Humidity Requirements:** Moderate to high, 60–85%. Suitable for terrariums, cabinets, or greenhouses.
**Temperature Range:** 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from temperatures below 60°F (16°C).
**Growth Habit:** Shingling climber with small heart-shaped leaves that enlarge and change as the plant matures.
**Soil:** Well-draining tropical aroid mix with bark, perlite, or coco chips.
**pH:** Slightly acidic to neutral, 5.5–6.5.
**Size:** Juvenile leaves 2–4 cm; mature leaves can become larger with climbing support.

Plant Details
Airflow
Medium — Essential for "wetish" setups. Needs regular air exchange or internal circulation fans to prevent water from sitting on leaves, which helps avoid rot and fungal issues.
Family
Araceae
Growth strategy
Epiphyte
Humidity
40–60%
Lighting
Moderate — Prefers bright, filtered, or indirect light. This is the "sweet spot" for most terrarium species; however, direct sun or high-intensity LEDs will scorch delicate juvenile leaves.
PH
6.5–7.5 — Neutral: Suitable for hardy species that are less sensitive to water chemistry. This range is common in setups using tap water or inert substrates like clay pebbles and stones.

Size
Large
Temperature
70–85°F — Standard Tropical Range. This mirrors the natural understory of the rainforest, providing enough warmth for vigorous growth while remaining safe from the extreme heat that can bake a closed glass enclosure.
Watering substrate
Damp — These plants love high moisture levels; the substrate should stay wet to the touch at all times but should not be sitting in a stagnant, waterlogged state.
World
Old World — Native to the Eastern Hemisphere: Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and surrounding islands.
